Responsibilities
The overarching responsibility of the
IT Systems Project Manager is to ensure the projects they are assigned are completed successfully and stay within their defined scope, timeline, and budget. The
IT Systems Project Manager must develop and adhere to project plans which define the project’s tasks, resource allocation, deliverable dates and current status. They must identify and analyze the customer’s needs and system requirements to create these project plans. This individual is also responsible for maintaining active channels of communication with their projects’ customers and ensuring the customer’s expectations regarding deliverables and deadlines are managed appropriately. The technical project manager must also conduct internal project meetings to ensure the project team understand their tasks and complete their work on schedule. A strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and internal drive are critical for an individual to succeed in this role.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, engineering, computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum three years management experience in the IT field, including development work and interactions with customers
- Proficiency working in groups and leading cross-functional teams
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Highly organized
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in management or business administration
- Expertise in at least one development language
