Cloud Data Architect

Job Description

VANTA Partners' is seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our team in support of modernizing enterprise analytics capabilities through better data management, data integration, and automation.  Your central responsibility as the Data Architect will be to provide architecture, design blueprints, requirements assessment, best practices, and standards. In addition, research, evaluate and recommend approaches, tools, and technologies, assist in complex technical solutions, and provide subject matter expertise to the team.

To succeed in this role you should have extensive experience in building data platforms with relational and non-relational databases, has in depth knowledge in data modeling and database design and architecture;  data replication across heterogenous database, filestores and mainframe databases.  The ideal candidate will have experience in migration of mainframe systems and architecting cutting edge, serverless data migration & transformation services.  Should have implemented data catalogs, MDM and metadata management systems.  Should have implemented data solutions in AWS cloud; Is self-motivated to engage in issues and proactively work on DataOps principles and best practices adoption.

• Lead key data architecture and design decisions in support of the data platform and pipelines modernization
• Architecture review of enhancements and keep abreast of new services adopted in the customer platform that could be repurposed or yield benefits.
• Provide expertise on the overall data eco-system’s engineering best practices, standards, architectural approaches and complex technical resolutions
• Work with engineering teams across the technology organization, deliver the strategy through clear leadership/direction, influence and integration with agile development processes
• Develops strategies for enterprise data management and data governance
• Provide leadership and guidance in creating security and configuration documentation as needed for securing ATO
• Developing and recommending novel and innovative -- approaches to solving business and technical problems in the data and analytics domain
• Assisting program manager in setting schedules for new technology adoption
• Support security operations via required technical and security architecture and control documents

Required skills:

• Experience developing and managing enterprise database systems for transactional applications
• Knowledge and hands-on expertise in the following technologies: RDBMS, NoSQL, Big Data technologies, lambda architecture, ETL tools, data modeling for transactional as well as reporting focuses.  Specifically, technologies: SQL Server, MySQL, Pentaho PDI, AWS: RDS,  Glue, Redshift, Lambda, DMS
• Experience building streaming data architectures in AWS
• Demonstrated experience migrating data from legacy applications to new system solutions and keeping the data accessed by both and in sync throughout a phased migration
• Demonstrated experience managing data quality
• Experience developing, implementing and managing effective data governance models, processes, procedures and documentation
• Ability to create with detailed architecture that includes infrastructure, security, disaster recovery/BCP plans
• Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical details

Desired skills:

• Experience with CMMi Data Maturity Model
• Implementing Data Virtualization tools and rolling out virtualization as a service

Qualifications:

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other IT degree
• Engineering, math, and/or science degrees are acceptable substitute degrees
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
• The ability to successfully obtain and maintain a U.S. Suitability/Public Trust Background Clearance
